A new video today for those of you interested in how to do NIC teaming in ESX. A NIC team can share the load of traffic between physical and virtual networks among some or all of your VMs, as well as provide failover in the event of a hardware failure or a network outage.

While this video uses vSphere, the steps also apply to your VMware Infrastructure 3.5 environments.

Our first video KB to kick off the new year provides steps for installing Windows XP as a guest operating system in VMware products.

The video was created using VMware Workstation, but the basic steps apply to VMware ESX, VMware Fusion, VMware ACE, and VMware Player as well.

How to install Windows XP as a guest operating system in VMware products

When installing Windows XP as your guest operating system in your virtual machine, you may receive the error: "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer." This is because a compatible disk controller driver is not shipped with Windows XP.

This videos provides an overview of how to setup software iSCSI in VMware vSphere (VMware ESX 4 and VMware vCenter Server 4).

The steps are essentially the same for ESX 3.5 and vCenter Server 2.5 so this applies to those versions as well.

The steps are performed using the vSphere Client. For earlier versions of ESX/vCenter Server, you’ll use the VMware Infrastructure Client to perform the steps.
